- Feeding the mind, nourishing the soul

Terry MaberyI observed above me two large birds soaring motionless through the air as the wind provided the lift for them. Yet, at times, each one would flap its wings just a few times and once again appear almost motionless.

God provides the “spiritual lift” for our lives through His grace. Without the blood of Christ we would be eternally lost. Yet, he expects us to “flap our wings,” so to speak, in order to keep our lives on track spiritually. Obedience is what God expects. As Peter said after he commanded the Jews on Pentecost to repent and be baptized (Acts 2:38), we are to save ourselves (Acts 2:40).

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling  Phil 2:12 ESV

Be obedient to God today and every day. Keep your focus upon Him.  Have a blessed day and help someone else to have the same.

The innocence of a sweet little child is wonderful. Little children are so innocent. They have no sin. We were all like that at one time. Then we disobeyed God’s will. We can thank God, however, that he provided for that. He does not desire for any to perish (2 Peter 3:9) but for all to be saved (1 Timothy 2:4). You have been cleansed of those sins if you have been baptized into Christ (Acts 22:16). It is up to each of us to live as free from sin as we can. Yet, when we commit the occasional sin of ignorance or of weakness, we have the knowledge that we can continue to be cleansed by Jesus’ blood if we repent and ask forgiveness (Acts 8:22).

Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.  Eph 5:25-27 ESV

Commit yourself to live without sin today and thank God for the gift of His Son. Through Him you can be presented to Him as holy and without blemish.
